4. I do not think it is ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance in photoshop. This is wrong, because by doing this in photoshop you are basically telling that person that they do not look good enough.

5. There are no circumstances in which changing a person's appearance is okay.

6. I think it is okay if you put a filter on a picture or even if you put make up on in photoshop, but I think that completely changing the original picture or changing what the person actually lookd like is wrong.

7. In fashion photography it is more common to use photoshop to change a person, but in photo journalism photoshop is mostly used to change the colors and levels of a picture.

8. Each picture relates to reality in one way or another even if they completely photoshopped the picture.

9. We watched these videos to get a better understanding of photoshop and what people actually use it for.

10. None of the videos are about guys because they don't many things to photoshop and girls usually photoshop themselves to make them selves look better.

Magazines part 2

Early Magazine Covers-
The main attribute for Early Magazine Covers was trying to model their covers similar to books at that time. On the cover the only information it had was the title of the magazine and the publication information. Magazines also had table of contents cover. There ere many generic covers in this time period. Besides the plain generic covers some magazines didn't  have covers, such as newspapers.

The Poster Cover-
Most magazine covers during the time period of 1890's to 1960's were poster covers. Poster covers were used so often that it seemed to be the only magazine cover that existed. Charles Dana Gibson and Maxfield Parrish were very famous in the 1900's. They were very famous because many of their art work appeared on poster covers of magazines.

Pictures Married to Type-
The main attribute of Pictures Married to Type was to draw in readers by their cover lines. Most magazines just had art work and pictures on the covers. Pictures Married to Type magazines had pictures and art work ,but besides that they had cover lines. These were the first famous magazines to have cover lines.

In the forest of Words-
The main attribute for In the forest of Words was to draw in readers attention by adding descriptions on the cover. In the forest of Words were the first famous magazines to have descriptions of what was in the magazine, on the cover. Nowadays a picture for the cover is not enough to catch someones attention. That is why magazines now have big titles, cover lines, and a description on the cover.

Harper's Bazaar, May, Summer Fashion Issue
"The May issue unveiled not only summer’s essentials but also our cover star Gwyneth Paltrow, in a breathtaking Dior couture headpiece. Shot by Daniel Jackson, the image paid homage to a Richard Avedon photograph that appeared in BAZAAR’s April 1965 issue—revealing that in fashion, history is worth reliving."

critique:
I chose the Bazaar Magazine as my favorite cover. I really liked the cover of Bazaar Magazine. I really like the cover of the magazine because the exposure was really bright but not to bright were you can not see the main subject. They photographer followed a couple rules of photography. These rules were simplicity, because the background was simple and grey and it made the main subject stand out even more. Another rule that the photographer followed was framing. There was not excess space on the cover. The photographer nicely framed the models face on the cover without cropping part of her face out. Another thing that I liked about the cover is how the title of the magazine stood out. The title stood out but it was not in a crazy font of color to distract from the main subject.

American Soldier

The most powerful picture is the one where the dad is holding up the sign that sat "welcome home Ian" This is the most powerful picture because it shows his dad which was the most important person the Ian left behind.
set 1:  image #1- #9
set 2:  image #10- #30
set 3:  image #51- #75
set 4:  image #76 - #82

The last set of pictures was the most powerful. They were the most powerful because he came home from Iraq and got married to Devin.

All the images work together to tell a story because they are all in order and all the emotions in the picture tell what is going on in the picture.

For the photos were Ian is the main subject, they are usually in present tense.

The captions enhance the pictures because they tell what is going on and the emotions in the picture.

picture #2- Ian is reading his diploma and transcripts from his high school. He has just graduated from Bowie High School and he has planned to join the army.

picture #5- Ian sadly sits with his father on the couch. They were talking about Ian and his future in the Army.

picture #9- Ian stands in a room with other men that are wanting to join the army. Ian was reciting the Army Oath while his mom and other people watch him from the back.
